About Us

A Heart’s Mission is the private practice of Deborah Bobbitt Harris, a Reactive Attachment Disorder and Early Childhood Trauma expert, and therapeutic foster parent for nearly 20 years. Deborah has personally fostered over 100 children and has spent more than 12 years developing programs that have brought hope and healing to more than 300 families.

Deborah has worked as a lay therapist for over 5 years, and has received training from several well-regarded attachment therapists. Her professional services include therapeutic motivational respite care and expert parent coaching. She understands what families go through when dealing with a child who is affected by RAD or Early Relational Trauma, and she is dedicated to finding solutions that will work for the entire family.

Children who are unattached have difficulties regulating their emotions and behaviors. Our therapeutic motivational respite program targets the child’s inability to trust by helping to drop the defenses that prevent change. The intervention addresses the child’s desire to control his surroundings and interactions with others. Using a variety of therapeutic techniques, we create a safe environment where the child learns to identify and get in touch with his feelings, usually for the first time in his life.

We can assist in finding an attachment therapist and educating teachers, therapists, friends, and family members about the difficult challenges of parenting an unattached child.
